Hrmm...
So far all I got is the title screen... Try to start a LAN server, and I crash at what I *guess* is the team selection screen... I can only guess as I can't make out the text on said screen.
Meh, alphas...

Yeah, same here.
And to be fair, this is PRE-alpha.
I'm just totally fucking excited that it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING! It's been a pipe dream for so long that I'm just itching to get my hands on it again.

People have already lua-modded it to allow you to kill other players and various simple tasks.

Asmodee from evolvens is coding NS right now just to be able to troll the lazy ass dev team UWE faggots with video frags in pre alpha pugs. One year avantgarde from a Mr. Butt plugs and Milk jugs' playable alpha.
P.S. Nice Crysis Warhead + Halo + DOOM3 copycating. GG

haven't even considered buying it yet, when there is a playable beta, I'll look into it more, but to many games lately have gotten pushed out before they were ready and have been disappointing

Ehh... this wasn't exactly a rushed job, and based on the original NS, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt that NS2 will be good. I'll pre-order when it comes with a beta invite (and a working beta) but probably not before then.

Meh, I ordered this waaay back when it was first made available on the basis that, given the number of hours I spent enjoying playing NS, that Flayra and his inheriting minions deserved at least two more pizzas, even if the sequal to the game never came out at all. (Nevermind the fact that more in hand money = more motivation, for starving coders, at least.)
Do hope it doesn't also mean more pressure - yer right about sh*t getting rushed, but again, worth it just to donate for the joy of NS1, never mind the dreams of NS2.

Indeed I guess you could look it like that, but from my perspective, I'm just not in the habit of pre-ordering vaporware.
I like to think the original NS brought about the end of an era. An era when mod developers didn't charge for what would now be considered premium content and the term "downloadable content" was less a marketable platitude than it was a reference to internet pornography. I remember when a mod's success wasn't spelled out in dollar signs but instead in word of mouth popularity and its position on arbitrary "Best Mod of All Time" lists.
God how I miss those days.
*edit*
Then again, I never was one to stand up to peer pressure.

You liberal left wing commies always want everything for free.
TBH - most of these modders in their teens and early 20's, do mods in an effort to build a portfolio to work for a real company. A lot of mods come straight of out game development tech schools as projects (in some cases some of the better or, at least, more clever ones). Those kids gotta grow up sometime. Flayra's the only one I ever heard of who put it off long enough to actually wind up living on gamer donations for half a year.
