Lately when I've been playing non-source mods (ns, tfc, etc.) my game keeps crashing and i'll be kicked back out to the desktop. This is the error message it keeps giving me.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

No sir, no clue. Post it on the Steam/Valve forums maybe? I believe that I've had that problem before, but that was before I had to wipe my puter due to other problem I had and I havent seen it since.

Wow, how's that for turn around? Ask a question, and in two posts someone's got it nailed.

It has also been known to be caused by certain routers combined with QOS packet handling. You can disable QOS packet handling in networks settings, it should have no major impact.

Certain "net enhancer" programs also change MTU sizes and such in strange ways that sometimes cause bogus Sock errors. A roll back will usually fix ye there.

Nice to see the Steam FAQ doing it's job there. It's always hit or miss - they don't have solutions for some of the most common problems - and then you get hits for obscure ones like that from time to time. Strange.

i have def had this error message before. But after a restart of my computer and modem is goes away. I always just assumed it meant I was having a slow/dead connection going.
