On the real topic, there's no way that some sprites were deleted somehow? If "reinstall the software" works for other Windows based programs, why not for NS? :P

Game won't load if the sprites are deleted. And the odds of them being all corrupted, and not the rest of the game, next to nill. They use a different rendering system from the rest of the engine, so tis more likely the graphics card compatibility and/or settings.

i gotta stop over lookin things, it was the video options that went out of wack. i stole some wireless conectivity at my house and found that out today.
my comm options are still, and have been black. they rarely appear normal, along with the tab team scores appearing normal as blue and yellow instead of just green for all.

Wait, your comm buttons are black, AND the score board is all green?

Or, your comm buttons are black, and your score board appears normal?

Scoreboard renders as a sprite (on hud 2D via 3D render), being actually made up of hud sprites. (Even uses the same "vgui_LoadTGA" functions)

Man. I just have NFC. You installed new drivers I take it. You might post on the support forums at the REAL NS website. The nearest thing I could think is that somehow your color settings are off for sprite rendering, but good for your 3d rendering. Is the rest of the HUD discolored? Your rightclick menu, waypoints, motion tracking blips, parasites?

Vista + ATI XPRESS = Steam Fubar

Good luck. ;) Frankly, most people get more reliable Steam with Linux Windows emulators than with real Vista.

If yer lucky, you maybe able to get Certified XP for free, via Micro$oft's Windows Upgrade Vista to XP program. Although, I think it doesn't apply to home edition - which is a shame, as that's the version that gets forced on the most people.

You may have to live with it until M$ drops their efforts to stop you from displaying graphics on unauthorized devices, and/or ATI manages to certify a driver with better OpenGL emulation and/or Steam does the same (since real OpenGL isn't allowed under Vista).

If you haven't already, update your graphic drivers, but I'm sure you have (I didn't check the versions though). I do know from first hand experienced dated Vista graphic drivers cause sprite issues in Half-life OpenGL.

none of the hl mods are aloud to run in open gl. they all are forced to run in directx or whatever its called.

NS only runs proper in OpenGL. This is also true with most HL1 mods these days (many won't run in DX mode at all, and software mode works for next to none). Set it for OpenGL and see if it fixes itself. There's an OpenGL emulation built into Steam and Vista (even though Vista doesn't allow true OpenGL), so it'll either go, or fubar in some new fantastic way.

I heard that within 3 years microsoft will be cutting off support to XP. I mean when you think about it the operating system is 7 years old now, in 3 years it will really be a dead OS, like 98.
