So i'm moving (again) and I'm pretty unsatisfied with my current ISP/TV provider. The internet speed is pretty good but the customer service is pretty awful and they sneak charges in all the time. Plus i've had a ton of TV related problems. Anyways, I'm looking into other providers in my area who have alot more options on bandwidth and pricing. But I have no idea how much bandwidth I use to play video games and download pr0n. So maybe one of you annoying kids can help me make my decision.
i've got
384 kbps down/128 up for $25
1.5 mbps down/256kbps up for $30
6 mbps down/384 kbps up for $40
8 mbps down/512 kbps up for $55
I'm a relatively poor college kid and don't want speed I wont use. ..but I dont want to make NS any laggier than it already is. So which is the best buy...
Is there a place to check my down/up speeds to see what i'm getting now in my old place to compare? My service description says I get up to 10 mpbs, but I know its never been that good.

eh, IMHO cough up 30 for the 1.5 mb down 256 up that should be more than enough for your needs...
and you can dl pron relatively fast

TBH - NS is likely to lag the same on all four of those, if they are all the same ISP. You don't need very much bandwidth, it's more of a performance / packet turnaround / distance from node issue.

you're probably gonna have a hard time getting more than 150 kB/s from torrents anyway (most of the time), so id stick with the 1.5. if you get the 384 you'll be bitching about it before too long.
im on 12 or 15 right now (split 4 ways, but my roommates rarely use anything) and as of yesterday i cant even play ns because one of the boxes i run through to get out of orange county is fubar. so really, just pray you don't get a shitty route.
