Today I am making a crack at getting Half Life 1 games to work properly under wine.
However, Im having a few problems.
First off, the video seems very choppy, yet NS reports it is running at 100+ frames per second
next, every sound sounds like its in slow mo... lol?
The choppy video is my main concern, so far I have tried switching rendering engines, updated my video driver, next im going to try turning off Beryl..
As for the sound I havent looked into it, but I think batacula said it had something to do with the sound being split out of two outputs at once?

Ok, fixed the sound issue. Apparently you have to rejoin the server after you join it the first time... quite annoying.
Also, as far as the choppy video, I believe its my LCD monitor giving me the trouble, I usually have vsync enabled in windows, and this eliminates the screen tears I normally see. Under wine I am not sure whether vsync is on or what or how to change it.
thnx, wormbo.

vsync is on by default, go to the additional properties under your graphics card options - usually under direct 3d, and shut it off

In your driver options.
The cvar in half-life is "vid_wait" "0|1" (disable|enable) - however, Half-Life always defers to the driver's settings.
Maybe you just need more thermal grease on your monitor?

I seem to have lost my driver options page...
I think there was a command to bring it up...
Sad times

I believe for driver options, bring up the console while in HL, and type "unbindall". It "unbinds" your driver menu so you can change the settings.
You don't need to thank me, I'm always here to help.
