I tried some of the fancier toys for a couple days, than I said "fuck it". Ubuntu is my productivity boot.

I really don't see a difference between amarok and the stock music software.
Plus I dont really like how amarok makes everything into playlists.
EDIT: I just got NS up and running after fiddling with wine for a bit.
however,
1. the sound wont come out my usb headphones
2. the game is really choppy
3. i cant get it to go fullscreen without having the "taskbar" overlapping it.

A sound card is not a headset, it's like a video card except not. Only a gamer would know their video card and not their sound card.

I know my sound card dipshit, its a creative SB live! model #SB0001 (fukken revision 1!) but thats not what is rendering the sound for my headphones.
THE HEADPHONES ARE USB. THEY ARE THIER OWN "SOUND CARD"

I don't care about your headset, in my experience it's probably NOT the problem.
The majority of Ubuntu headset issues are due to the SOUND CARD. Ubuntu is known to have issues with setting the primary card when additional audio devices are available (Hell, this may not even be the primary option anymore), resulting in sound being played through both in a distorted manner, or sometimes being played through one and sometimes through the other. This could presumably cause the stuttering, though in my case Ubuntu's inability to properly arrange my soundcard and my headset caused a strange delayed sound being played through both. However, this normally only happens with uncommon sound cards (ala mine).
You presumably have speakers or a second headset. Hook them in and turn them on, and see if Ubuntu is possibly alternating output. Unfortunately, I do not have a good fix for this, though, as I haven't heard of this problem often (at all?) since... Edgy, I think? Which was how my problem was magically fixed. But to my knowledge, with Ubuntu, the most common cause of headset problems is actually the sound card.
Failing that, check https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Debug ... ndProblems
