Maybe try switching HL2 to DX8 mode, then launch the mod? I'm not sure if Source mods work the way HL1 mods do, where switching the graphic modes in any one of them makes it span accross all mods.

Beyond that advice it's the usual: Update graphic drivers, reinstall DX9c distro, send babies to Mr. Newell, etc. etc.

So I thought it might be funny to see if I could find a reference online to Gabe eating babies. So I googled "babies Gabe Newell."

Guess what the first link was? That's right:

Heh, not sure where the baby eating thing started, but that's certainly where it ended. ;)

Never did turn that into an interactive game as originally intended though...

HL2 should be all you need to have installed to play Source Mods.

If HL2 Episode One is causing issues, it, again, maybe related to the graphic settings. Might try setting DX8 mode in HL2, then running Episode One and seeing if the graphic settings stick. If they do, it should extend to all Source mods and maybe that’ll fix em.

i can't remember the exact command, and i'm too lazy to look it up, but in a shortcut to FF add -dxlevel7 to the command line

I discovered something nifty about FF today: The Rail Gun

They changed this lil puppy. You can charge it! At low charges, it's our old reliable 100% accurate in a straight line SG killer. At high charges, it packs a wallup, shots bounce around corners - and you can even jump with it! (a bit) - Basically it's the HL1 Gause Gun in pistol form. Careful not to overcharge or it'll singe yer nose.

On a full charge it can take out a healthy engie in one shot, or a level 3 SG in two. Not sure about what else.
