This kind of outage seems to happen about every 2 years. Hopefully it won't happen again since the service is under a different set of conditions. The only way I could see the server going down due to network loss is if I lost my job or the colo provider goes out of business

Anyways, I have to at least stick around long enough to run NS2

So I'm all thinkin' - now that he's back, maybe I should FINALLY play Left4Dead, that I've still not played since I purchased it during that weekend sale.

I was surprised. I only got like 5 IM's on the subject in the whole week it was down. It used to be if the forums went down for even an hour I'd get like 30 IM's before the next, and I'd, admittedly, start biting people's heads off after awhile.

We're deadened up quite a bit since NS started it's population downturn. Don't really carry the forum mass we used to.

Well, at least I'm still here, and that's all that matters.

I still haunt the forums with my presence as well, so all is not lost.

Actually, the mass forum depopulation came about the time we switched to the new forum format - lost a lotta folks then - even though the servers were still populated. Many folks had issues getting registered on the new forums as well. The TFC server IP change killed the All2Fort'tards too, and they far outnumbered the NS players, even at the peek of NS. (Sadly)

The forums link on the front page is quite a bit more burried than it was on the old page, but I doubt that has much to do with it (although it can't help).

Meh, I guess I'll just keep prayn' for NS2 like everyone else... Although, I suspect, it's going to wind up the way most Source mods are now - with about 20 servers per player. It's hard to set your server apart in that sort of environment.
