But, but.... it's a hilarious coincidence!

Oct is short for "october", but also short for "Octet" or "Octal" counting system, which is 0 - 7 in computer language, and it just happens that it's conterpart, "Dec", or "Decimal" shares it's place with a holiday to the EXACT DAY!!! :O :O 31 and 25!

And, to make matters even more interesting, the particular character they BOTH represent is the END FILE ascii code. OMGZ THE WORLD IS GOING TO END ON THE 31st of OCT and the 25th of DEC!!
