I know you were all holding your breath. I'm not dead, sorry Thoth.
I recently upgraded my beast, and Asus is fighting me on the amperage requirements for my motherboard, on top of my video cards being at XFX for RMA repair. One of them was faulty. I know you all miss me ever so much so I'll be back as soon as I purchase the $380 power supply Asus says is necessary to run the Crosshair, and get my video cards back from XFX.

No, I haven't bought it yet, but apparently it's what I need to run the board.
Silverstone op1200 $380, 1200 watts, 40 / 40 / 90 amperage ratings on the 3.3, 5, and 12v rails respectively.
Fucking Asus says I need a power supply with MINIMUM of:
30 amps @ 3.3v rail
35 amps @ 5v rail
40 amps combined total on 12v rails
Go and find me a power supply that meets those requirements. Seriously.
Go find one. I dare you. I will give you a prize if you can find one.
Other than the one I found, or the op1000.
Honestly though, I want to buy it mostly because I'm planning on dropping AMD's Phenom into it when it comes out, and I want to overclock the thing as well.
I'm actually building an acrylic computer case in an effort to show off the eventual water cooling I'm going to put in it. If it comes together really well I'll take pictures and post them if you guys are interested.
This really just means that I'm going to be off of NS for even longer.
The money I'm spending on my machine is way less than what Jiggs just blew on a new server. "WOW" is what I have to say about that.

Bullshit. No board in existence needs that much power.

Seriuosly, that's what I said about that board.
And wow #1, I had no idea my board was a year old, and wow #2, I didn't know the phenom was out already. Son of a bitch. Except that one is 2.4 ghz, I'll look for a 3.2 to match my dual core later.
That power supply you linked DOES meet those requirements, if not all that well. 4 12v rails at 18 amps a piece means collectively they are going to put out less than the 72 amps it's claiming. Something I read on tom's hardware forums about wattage conversion.
That and it's got 4 rails instead of 1 massive one. More efficient power management through one rail, like on the OP1200.

My point withe the used PSU was that it ran on that while being under the specs you mentioned. It was supporting evidence of my
Argument. As the OCZ fails on the 5v line and has it's 12v line split into 4.

You're right.
I really am feeling my way through this power supply thing, I've never dealt with amperage ratings before, I just recently had to start researching this stuff and know in theory how it works. I don't have a way to test how much amperage the system is drawing off the PSU, so I default to my fear and just buy the biggest fucking thing I can get my hands on.
I was looking at the OP1000, which meets the requirements just barely but also has a $100 rebate :O I might go with that instead.
Also, the acrylic case I'm building is going to have lights and lots of fans and shit, and eventually the PSU is going to have to power a water pump and possibly a jury-rigged thermal electric cooler. (More hair-brained schemes of mine)
What I mean is that I'll probably be putting above average stress on the 12v rail(s).
I really wish I could do something other than type about computers on my sister's mac. Sigh.
