I don't believe it will incorporate heroes. Should be like old SC, but 50x better and more awesome.

Starcraft is a pretty revolutionary strategy game. After 10 years, it still holds a pretty strong following and is regarded as one of the best strategies ever.
The game is relatively simple yet extremely complicated. Its like chess, you can either play by feel or you can crunch numbers, learn strategies, do the math behind all the units, etc. All three of the races are extremely balanced and each one has a completely different play style making it feel really like 3 different games. The story behind the single player is pretty good as far as strategy games go. And the multiplayer is very flexible ranging from custom maps to official league and tournament play.
Its a great game if you like strategies. I am a bit worried for Starcraft II. While I am sure Blizzard will do a good job, one has to assume there will be balance issues right off the back, it will take a few years for it to get to the balance that its predecessor has achieved.
But on top of that, we have to worry about what blizzard will do to attempt to keep the game "innovative." Really I don't like gameplay gimmicks in my strategy games. I think the hero aspect completely ruined Warcraft 3. I don't like having too much emphasis put on 1 unit. I also didn't like what Warhammer: Dawn of War did with the whole troop morale, I like my units to fight to the death goddamnit. They don't need to fear for their lives and run away.
I think blizzard knows how to produce a really solid strategy, they did it with Warhammer II and Starcraft, hopefully they will return to their roots with Starcraft II.

I think you meant Warcraft. And I was never impressed w/ the Warcraft series prior to number three. All you had was two sides with carbon-copy units which makes it easy to balance, I suppose, but it also makes it BORING. Probably why the earlier C&C games were more interesting. It's all about the asymmetry, baby!

Problem with RTS's is, once you've played Dune2, you've played them all.
